About

Our union represents more than 700 media workers throughout B.C., primarily the newspaper and printing industries. We also represent Purdy’s Chocolatier, which employs approximately 200 of our members in Vancouver. Our workplaces range from the province’s largest newspapers – The Vancouver Sun and The Province, to dozens of smaller community papers, including the Surrey NOW Leader, the Bowen Island Undercurrent and the Prince George Citizen. Our union is organized into four employer-based councils: Pacific Newspaper Group, Glacier, Black Press and the multi-employer council. The councils share information and coordinate strategies at regular meetings. The Annual Congress meets in October and is the supreme decision-making body of our Local. Representatives from throughout the province meet for a few days to consider the major policies affecting the Local. This is also where our elected officers are nominated.
